Still clinging to Windows 10 like it’s your favorite pair of old sneakers?
It might be time to lace up something new. I was talking with a client Monday who hesitated to upgrade because of Microsoft’s history with Windows Vista and Windows 8. I get it.
What we know: Windows 11 is on the rise—35% market share this past October—and it’s not slowing down. Windows 10 still holds around 60%, but change is coming… fast.
The Big News: October 14, 2025
Windows 10 gets the boot from Microsoft. Don’t panic—it won’t crash on you overnight. But the critical updates? Gone.
Think of it as your favorite TV show getting canceled—except instead of missing out on drama, you’re missing out on the absolute minimum protection against malware and cyber threats. Not exactly the vibe you want for your business.
Oh, and Microsoft will offer extended support for a steep price—$30 per device. That’s just the beginning.
My Problem with Microsoft & Windows 11:
It’s no secret that I am concerned about Microsoft’s position on Windows 11. Specifically, Windows 11 will only work on computers purchased in the last five or so years.
And that’s the problem: Every computer made before then is incompatible. Meaning Microsoft expects you to throw away your old computer to get Windows 11, resulting in 240 million computers and over half a million tons of electric waste ending up in landfills.
The Good News About Windows 11?
For one, it’s free to those running a compatible computer with Windows 10. It’s also faster, sleeker, and has many new features, including a revamped File Explorer and security features that make sense in 2025.
We get it—change can be scary. But we’re here to make the switch to Windows 11 as smooth as butter. Ready to level up? Let’s chat.
