As viruses, spyware and malware evolve, so does the software you can use to protect against it.  Each year, we evaluate all products on the market and recommend what we believe is the best protection to meet our client's needs.  As of right now, we recommend you obtain all of the following (if you can only afford one, we recommend the first option):

Microsoft Security Essentials (free)
Microsoft has surprised us with the latest release of their AntiVirus software.  Far more effective than any of the high dollar products on the market without the need to subscribe to any annual virus definitions (Microsoft provides it free).

PcTools Spyware Doctor 2011 ($30)
While Norton impresses us with their Anti-Spyware solution, there is no other tool better on the market against protecting against SpyWare than Spyware Doctor.  We have been amazed at what other virus protection utilities fail to pick up and Spyware Doctor covers it.  They also provide a free version on GooglePack.

MalwareBytes AntiMalware (free)
Norton handles Viruses, Spyware Doctor tackles Spyware, and MalwareBytes seem to tackle a majority of the rest.  They offer both a paid and free version, but we have found the free version to handle everything necessary.
